The 'Obscura' EP represents Robots Against Children's (RAC) first formal release of new material in many years. Having grown up in the age of the home PC explosion, RAC's initial productions were done through software. As technology inundated his day to day (as it has for all of us) RAC saw the computer as less and less of a creative tool which ultimately culminated in the collapse of all musical inspiration and resulted in a 5-year hiatus from making any music at all.

The Obscura EP embodies a carefully curated selection of some of RAC's favorite analog recordings. Each piece was captured in a single session in, more or less, an improvisational style. Later the results of those recordings have been massaged and lovingly mastered for maximum sonic enjoyment but with respect to their almost "live" studio origins. RAC wants it to sound good but not too perfect and for the listener to experience the creative workflow as it occurred.

If in RAC's past, he tried to methodically craft electronic pop, this body of work, in some ways, represents the antithesis of that approach. Letting his synths "speak" instead of his words, this EP is the stripped-down language of sound that a robot speaks from its core.
